All measurements are approximate
and can be adjusted to the size of your pieces.
Equal amounts of concentrated lemon juice
and water...enough to cover your jewelry 2 large pinches of salt
I swished some
pieces around for a few seconds, soaked other pieces for a few minutes, and another intricate and badly tarnished
piece for 10 minutes or longer. The results were beautiful...a rich patina. I have found this to be a safe method for cleaning pieces with an applied patina.
At
this point, you can buff your pieces with a jewelry polishing cloth.
This works well for most of the jewelry that I design, although, I would not recommend placing the
Natural Crystal Pendants & Pendulums in the tumbler (see below). I
would also be cautious with pearls or porous stones that could be affected by the solution.
It's always a good idea to wipe your jewelry off after wearing and to keep it separated to
prevent scratching...a zip-loc or anti-tarnish bag works well. And know that however much effort you decide to put into
the care of your jewelry...it doesn't take much to have it looking fabulous again.
Another great and quick
cleaner for copper, bronze and silver:
Connoisseurs NEW! DAZZLING BRILLIANCE
"Revitalizing SILVER Jewelry Cleaner" available at Sears or Wal-mart Directions:
dip quickly and rinse with water
I have used this successfully on pearls and
semi-precious stones...DO NOT SOAK and dip quickly! Use at your own risk.
DO NOT USE THIS ON JEWELRY WITH A CHEMICAL PATINA OR HEAT PATINA
