"Night Sky" Series
Architectural Panels
The techniques developed for this series of panels materialized
from dozens of test-firings, spanning over two years. Ultimately, the panels came to be 16 different constellations,
with sand-carved representations of the star groups laminated between fused layers of glass. Each star was calculated and
plotted from astrological charts. On a clear night many of the stars can be seen in the night skies, without the aid of a
powerful telescope.

Each
panel underwent multiple kiln firings, exceeding temperatures of 1450°F. The subtleties created by multiple firings of
Baroque and iridized glass, the brilliance of the dichroic stars, and the detail of the sand-carved images, change from hour
to hour with the movement of the sun. Each panel measures 15"x 15"x 1 ½" and was designed to be installed
into thick stucco walls
